Innovasea appoints Mark Jollymore as chief executive.
Innovasea has named acting chief executive Mark Jollymore as its permanent CEO, the company said on Thursday. Jollymore, who has held the interim role since May, assumes the position with immediate effect.
The Boston-based firm, which develops technology for aquaculture operations and wild fish tracking, said Jollymore will lead its next phase of expansion, with a focus on advancing systems for regenerative aquaculture and aquatic research.
Don Grant, managing partner of Cuna del Mar and chairman of Innovasea’s board, said Jollymore had already provided stability during a key period for the company. “His leadership has already helped lead Innovasea through an important chapter,” Grant said, adding that the board expects to “scale impact and unlock the next phase of growth” under his tenure.
Jollymore said he intends to strengthen the company’s innovation capacity and its work with aquaculture and research clients. He described Innovasea as well placed to support global efforts to improve ocean health, biodiversity and food security through technology.
Jollymore joined Innovasea in 2017 as president following its acquisition of Amirix Systems. He had previously served as president and CEO of Amirix, where he oversaw the expansion of its Vemco acoustic fish tracking brand.
Since joining Innovasea, Jollymore has led development of the company’s tracking portfolio, including NexTrak, described by the firm as its most advanced acoustic telemetry system. The technology underpins Innovasea’s aquaMeasure environmental sensors used in precision aquaculture.
Jollymore holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick and an MBA from Saint Mary’s University. He also serves on several boards related to ocean technology and workforce development, and in 2024 became chair of the Canadian marine innovation centre COVE.
