Farmed salmon escape reported.

The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries has reported an escape of farmed salmon from a cage at Gamskjæran in Vestvågøy.

Isqueen AS discovered damage to a cage on 12 September and has since deployed nets to recapture fish. Around 80 salmon, each weighing approximately 2 kilos, have been recovered so far.

The Directorate said it is too early to determine the full scale of the escape. Routine inspections have been initiated, and tips have been received about catches and observations of farmed salmon in the area.

Authorities are asking local fishermen to report any further sightings or captures of escaped salmon.
