Nissui doubles down on farmed salmon with Pesquera Yadran buyout.

Japan’s Nissui Corporation has agreed to acquire all shares in Chilean salmon producer Pesquera Yadran for $133 million, with closing scheduled for early January 2026, subject to completion procedures.

The acquisition will be executed through Nissui’s consolidated Chilean subsidiary Salmones Antartica, with Pesquera Yadran becoming a wholly owned subsidiary upon completion. Nissui said the seller group includes Inversiones Yadran, Chile Market Limitada Servicios y Asesorias Financieras, and Inversiones Crucol Limitada.

Nissui said the transaction supports its long-term plan to rebalance its portfolio by 2030, with aquaculture identified as a priority growth area. The company added that it expects to expand scale in Chile alongside Salmones Antartica, strengthen processing and sales networks, and pursue efficiency improvements across farming sites and species.

Pesquera Yadran reported revenue of $222.4 million in 2024, down from $273.1 million in 2023, while operating profit moved to a loss of $21.5 million from an operating profit of $16.3 million a year earlier. Profit attributable to owners was a loss of $45.5 million in 2024, compared with $0.43 million in 2023, according to figures disclosed by Nissui.

As part of the deal, Nissui will also take ownership of Cultivos Yadran, and other subsidiaries that sit within the Pesquera Yadran group structure.

Pesquera Yadran operates a processing plant in Quellón, on Chiloé Island, with capacity listed by the company at 40,000 tonnes per year, and has operations across farming and processing of Atlantic salmon for export markets.
