Pure Salmon Japan secures strategic investment from Mori Trust for major land-based salmon project.
Pure Salmon Japan has announced that leading Japanese real estate and investment firm Mori Trust has become a strategic investor in the 8F Aquaculture Fund Japan I LP, which supports the company’s land-based Atlantic salmon project in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture.
The project aims to build Japan’s largest recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility for Atlantic salmon, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes. Using closed-containment RAS technology developed by Norway’s Pure Salmon Technology, the facility will enable fully inland salmon farming free from ocean pollution, viruses, and parasites—delivering a stable supply of antibiotic-free fish.
Shipments are expected to begin in 2027.
“This strategic partnership marks a major milestone in our mission to redefine aquaculture in Japan and across Asia,” said Erol Emed, CEO of Pure Salmon Japan. “Mori Trust shares our vision and our commitment to transforming aquaculture into a more sustainable industry. Their investment reflects a long-term commitment to food security, environmental responsibility, and industry leadership.”
Mori Trust’s participation goes beyond capital, with both companies aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions and bring world-class aquaculture innovation to Japan.
