Gigante Salmon completes first harvest, exceeds volume expectations.

Gigante Salmon has completed its first harvest from trial production at its land-based facility on Lille Indre Rosøy, recording a total harvest volume of 694 tonnes HOG—surpassing the company’s earlier estimate of up to 650 tonnes HOG.

The harvested fish had an average weight of 3.8 kg WFE, with 91% classified as superior quality.

“It is a milestone to have produced and delivered our first fish with good results,” said CEO Kjell Lorentsen. “With a good facility and skilled employees, everything is in place for a good production.”

The Rødøy-based company is in the final construction phase, with two of three production basins completed. Gigante Salmon is targeting a ramp-up to full annual capacity of approximately 16,000 tonnes HOG by 2028 and expects to release 2.2 million smolt in Q3 2025.

Gigante Salmon’s flow-through aquaculture concept is designed to combine elements of both conventional and land-based salmon farming while addressing biological and environmental challenges associated with traditional sea-based production.
