Gigante Salmon completes final basin and secures additional financing.
Gigante Salmon has reported steady operational progress in the third quarter of 2025, completing concrete work on its third and final production basin at the company’s land-based salmon farming facility in Rødøy.
The company said generation autumn 2024 has been transferred from production basin A to basin B, while smolt for generation autumn 2025 were released into basin A in September. The total standing biomass at the end of the quarter was 1,728 tonnes, of which 1,510 tonnes came from generation autumn 2024 with an average weight of 2 kilograms. Generation autumn 2025 accounted for 218 tonnes with an average weight of 150 grams.
No fish were harvested during the quarter, with the next harvest scheduled to begin toward the end of the fourth quarter.
Gigante Salmon said SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge has approved NOK 100 million in additional financing and increased its operating credit facility to NOK 140 million from NOK 90 million.
“We have been through another summer season without problems with sea lice. Fish welfare is good, and the facility is now operating according to our expectations,” said CEO Kjell Lorentsen. “With two of the planned three production basins in use, we look forward to starting the next harvest towards the end of the fourth quarter.”
The company said construction remains on track for full annual capacity of around 16,000 tonnes HOG by 2028.
