Andfjord Salmon releases 750,000 smolt into new K1 pool at Kvalnes.

Andfjord Salmon Group has transferred 750,000 smolt, averaging 160 grams, into its newly completed K1 pool at Kvalnes, Andøya. The company said the fish acclimated quickly to the seawater flow-through system.

K1 is the first pool in the current build-out phase at Kvalnes, which is planned to add three adjacent pools next, with a longer-term plan for a 12-pool cluster across two parallel rows on the already excavated land section.

Operations continue at K0, where approximately 350,000 smolt averaging 180 grams were stocked on 30 September. Andfjord reported 264 mortalities to date in K0, implying a 99.92 percent survival rate, and an average weight of 410 grams, which it said represents growth of about 128 percent since release.

Chief executive Martin Rasmussen said the K1 stocking marks an operational and commercial milestone and demonstrates the company’s ability to replicate large-scale flow-through units while increasing farming capacity.

Andfjord said a total of about 1.1 million smolt have been released this autumn across K0 and K1. The company plans to provide an operational update alongside third-quarter 2025 results on Thursday 27 November 2025.
