Andfjord Salmon completes pool K1, reports strong biological results.

Andfjord Salmon has completed construction of pool K1 and reported stable biological conditions in pool K0, following the release of approximately 350,000 smolt on 30 September.

The smolt, released at an average weight of around 180 grams, have shown strong early growth and low mortality. After nearly three weeks, the company has recorded 95 mortalities, representing a survival rate of 99.97 percent. Average weight has increased by about 45 percent since release.

“The smolt release in K0 and the subsequent period has gone better than we dared to hope for,” said Martin Rasmussen, CEO of Andfjord Salmon. “The logistics system worked perfectly, and we hardly lost any fish. The smolt have shown a healthy appetite from day one and are growing faster than expected.”

The company has also completed pool K1, the first newbuild in its ongoing expansion phase at Kvalnes on Andøya. The pool has been filled with seawater and will undergo testing and preparations ahead of the planned release of around 750,000 smolt in early November.

“The smolt release in K0 was hugely successful, and we are aiming to replicate this as much as possible when we release smolt into K1,” Rasmussen added.

Since its first production cycle ended in June 2023, Andfjord Salmon has been developing new pools, a harbour area, and expanded waterways at Kvalnes to support long-term production capacity of approximately 48,100 tonnes (HOG + post-smolt).
