Land-based salmon farmer Nordic Aqua Partners names new managing director for China

Nutreco-backed land-based salmon farmer Nordic Aqua Partners has announced the appointment of Andreas Thorud as the new managing director for its overall operational activities in China.

With 17-years experience working in China, Thorud brings high expertise and a deep understanding of the Chinese business landscape and the salmon market. CEO Ragnar Joenson welcomed the appointment in a stock exchange announcement issued on Friday.

“With his extensive background in the Chinese seafood industry, coupled with his fluency in the language, Thorud will be an all-important resource in driving Nordic Aqua Partners’ growth and success in this dynamic and strategically important market”, said Joenson.

Thorud has previously worked at the Norwegian Seafood Council where he held the position of Head of the Seafood Council’s overall operations in China. Prior to his role at the Seafood Council, Andreas Thorud spent a decade overseeing Aker BioMarine’s operations in China.

HIS educational background includes studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and [BI/NMH] in Oslo. Nordic Aqua Partners is building a land-based facility in Ningbo on China’s east coast.

Nordic Aqua Partners aims to reach an annual production of 20,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon. Thorud will report directly to CEO Ragnar Joensen.
