Marine Technology signs 4 year deal to support Mowi-backed producer

Mowi-owned Icelandic salmon producer Arctic Fish and service provider Marine Technology have entered into a long-term agreement to service the producers salmon farming operations in the West Fjords.

The four-year contract, which includes extension clauses, covers a range of services including cooking equipment cleaning, diving, and regular inspections.

As part of the agreement, Arctic Fish will have access to Marine Technology’s workboats, Sjótékni, for various projects, and a response team of divers will be on standby for immediate deployment.

Marine Technology Ltd. specializes in the production of boats, work ships, barges, and service vehicles, with headquarters in Tálknafjörður and branches in Útisafjörður and Reykjavík. The company employs over 40 people and provides a wide range of specialized equipment for the fishery industry.

John Gunnar Grindskar, manager at Arctic Fish, highlighted the importance of local services in ensuring staff safety and maintaining equipment and fish health.

“It’s a pleasure for the company to be able to buy this service locally. We want to participate in building strong and ambitious service providers in the local community. This will provide the necessary knowledge of the area to serve our fire and others excellently with the safety of the staff and good communication of equipment and our fish. Marine technology has shown ambition to invest in equipment to serve us and in the company we find great knowledge of our needs when it comes to contamination prevention as well as the service provided by the company. ” said Grindskar.

Kjartan J. Hauksson, CEO of Sjótékni, expressed pride in the long-term partnership, noting the investment in new equipment to support the contract.

“It is our ambition in Marine Technology to grow with the companies that work in the sector. We have provided the company with various services for many years and it is good to feel satisfaction and trust with our services. Along with this deal, we will invest in a workboat with powerful equipment that will handle equipment washing and inspection,” he said.
