Mersey Seafoods Limited has agreed to acquire Comeau’s Sea Foods Ltd., the companies said in a statement.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Comeau’s Sea Foods, founded nearly 80 years ago and based in Saulnierville in Nova Scotia’s Clare region, supplies a range of seafood products including whitefish, shellfish and salmon.
The companies said there will be no immediate changes to day-to-day operations following the transaction. Comeau’s will continue operating from its locations across southwest Nova Scotia, and the Comeau name will remain part of the business.
The acquisition adds to Mersey Seafoods’ portfolio in Atlantic Canada, where the company is active across multiple seafood categories.
Atlantic Canada is also one of North America’s main production regions for farmed Atlantic salmon, with processing and distribution networks in Nova Scotia and neighbouring New Brunswick supplying both domestic and export markets.
Comeau’s said further updates on the transaction will be provided as regulatory approvals progress.
