Irish aquaculture leaders meet with Minister to discuss licensing and sector challenges

IFA Aquaculture representatives met last week with Irish Minister of State Timmy Dooley during his visit to Killybegs Harbour Centre to discuss licensing renewals and recent biological challenges affecting the sector.

IFA Aquaculture Executive Teresa Morrissey and Mowi Ireland operations director and Committee Vice-Chair Catherine McManus joined the Minister on site visits to Mowi Ireland, Ocean Farm, and Gallagher Bros. The discussions focused on the need for progress in aquaculture licence renewals and the industry’s response to ongoing biological pressures.

The visit comes amid industry concerns over the pace of regulatory approvals and the impact of environmental conditions on production.
