Grindskar will oversee all fish and seafood farming operations at the company.

Mowi-backed Icelandic salmon farmer Arctic Fish has announced the appointment of John Gunnar Grindskar as its new COO Farming, effective December 1, 2023.

This newly created position will see Grindskar overseeing all fish and seafood farming operations at the company, with Egill Ólafsson and Rikke Malene Pedersen continuing in their respective roles under his leadership.

Grindskar, with extensive experience in marine fire, began his career at Mowi in Norway in 1992 and has since held various positions in the company, most recently as regional manager at Mowi in Central Norway.

“Iceland is a relatively new fish farming nation with increasing production and great growth opportunities. Arctic Fish has a good foundation, managing the entire value chain from fry to the finished product itself, which represents huge opportunities,” said Grindskar.

“The main task will be to develop the activity further and ensure the best possible working practices with animal welfare and sustainability as a guiding principle. I am looking forward to taking part in the journey ahead.”

Arctic Fish CEO Stein Ove Tveiten expressed confidence in Grindskar’s expertise.

“We are especially happy to have John Gunnar join us. His experience and knowledge will bring the company a lot of success in the development ahead,” said Tveiten.
