The largest salmon farmer in the world contributes with a laboratory for the next three months to test people for corona virus – free of charge.
The initiative will help strengthen Chile to handle the pandemic. The facility has room for analysing 1,000 samples of COVID-19 daily. Mowi states on LinkedIn they hope this initiative can help relieve the pressure on the local health care system and provide faster results.
Managing Director at Mowi Chile, Fernando Villarroel, says he hopes the initiative can help as widespread testing in countries as South Korea has shown to have good results to limit the spread.
The testing will, therefore, create management in the ongoing world crisis:
“We hope this will help to relieve the pressure on the public health system and provide quicker results in the regions affected, which includes remote areas in southern Chile,” Mowi states in the post.
