Full seawater RAS unit in design phase.
Mowi has announced at its capital markets day on Wednesday that it is planning a post-smolt site next to its feed mill in Kyleakin, Isle of Skye.
Screening applications are to be submitted for semi-closed containment in sea sites. Smolt up to 800g with Scottish seawater temperatures allows for harvesting within 12 months.
The new site will allow for increased fallowing as well as increased harvest volume, combined with reduced time at sea and treatment interventions.
Mowi CEO Ivan Vindheim said the Kyleakin feed mill has unutilised capacity and that the company “will continue to streamline its operations to minimise costs”.
