MSD Animal Health has received marketing authorisation for its Aquavac S7 vaccine, targeting seven common diseases in farmed salmon.

The company said the vaccine is designed to reduce mortality linked to conditions including infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV), furunculosis, cold water vibriosis, winter sores and yersiniosis.

According to MSD Animal Health, Aquavac S7 includes protection against Yersinia ruckeri, positioning it as a serum-free option for producers seeking broader disease coverage.

“This vaccine is innovative not only in how it works, but also in how it can be used,” said Dafydd Morris, Director of the company’s Aqua division in Europe.

The launch marks the first new product from MSD Animal Health Aqua following its acquisition of Elanco’s aquaculture business, and reflects the group’s stated long-term focus on the aquaculture sector.
