Three initiatives advance to final round of NASF Sustainability Award.

The North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) has announced three finalists for the inaugural NASF Sustainability Award 2026, recognising initiatives and organisations focused on advancing sustainability in the global seafood industry.

The award forms part of NASF’s annual programme in Bergen, one of the seafood sector’s largest international meeting points, which brings together producers, processors, technology suppliers, investors, feed companies, and policymakers to discuss market conditions, regulatory developments, and long-term industry strategy.

The finalists are:

  • The Seafood Carbon Emissions Profiling Tool (SCEPT)

  • Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)

  • Veramaris

According to NASF, the award was established to highlight sustainability as an integrated element of modern corporate management and to recognise companies and initiatives working to improve environmental performance across the seafood value chain. NASF said this year’s nomination process resulted in seven submissions.

SCEPT is a climate-oriented initiative designed to measure and profile carbon emissions across the seafood value chain, providing data intended to support emissions reduction efforts and environmental performance improvements for seafood companies.

MSC is an international non-profit organisation that sets standards for sustainable fishing and operates a global certification and ecolabelling programme for wild-capture fisheries, with its label widely used by retailers and foodservice companies.

Veramaris produces marine omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) from microalgae, supplying aquaculture feed producers with an alternative to fish oil as feed companies seek to reduce dependence on finite marine raw materials.

The jury for the NASF Sustainability Award 2026 comprises:

  • Minna Epps, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

  • Johan Frostrup, Debio

  • Øyvind Ihle, Claritas Consulting

The winner will be announced during the NASF Sustainability Summit on Wednesday 3 March at approximately 12:15, as part of NASF 2026 in Bergen.
