Nodine’s Smokehouse, Inc. of Torrington, Connecticut is recalling packages of smoked salmon due to the presence of Listeria Monoctygene contamination, reports the US Food and Drug Administration.
The smoked salmon was distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders.
The recall was the result of product sampling by Rachael’s Food Corporation that revealed the presence of the bacteria in 1.5-pound and 8-ounce packages of smoked salmon marked by lot numbers 40173 and 33173.
Consumers who have purchased these packages should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Further distribution has been suspended, while the source of the problem is being investigated.
To date, there have been no known illnesses reported in connection with the recall.
