The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has announced a suspected case of bacterial kidney disease (BKD) at the Bugane site in Sykkylven municipality, Møre og Romsdal.

Hofseth Sea Farming and Ewos Innovation farm salmon and trout at this location.

The infection source is unknown. The Authority urges local farming activities to take precautions to prevent disease spread. Health checks should focus on BKD to avoid further transmission.

An immediate inspection is planned to confirm the diagnosis. If confirmed, the Authority may order the site to be emptied to control the outbreak.
