New escape incident reported by Lerøy

Norwegian salmon producer Lerøy reported an escape incident on May 31 at the Stolane site in Radfjorden, Vestland in Norway.

The incident occurred during a net replacement operation. Inspections revealed two large holes in the net, according to the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries.

The exact number of escaped fish has not yet been determined. As of June 2, the company has recaptured approximately 126 rainbow trout in recovery efforts at the site.

The Directorate of Fisheries has initiated an inspection of the incident and is seeking public assistance in reporting any captures of rainbow trout in the area.
