“The aquaculture industry is developing rapidly, where knowledge is a fresh commodity. Therefore, it is important to have up-to-date knowledge that is presented in an engaging way.”

The Norwegian University of Environmental and Biosciences (NMBU) has announced the completion of a free new digital textbook on aquaculture, now available for use.

This resource, launched on Friday, provides open access to an extensive library of subject matter, including videos and resources authored by leading researchers in the field.

The textbook, named “Havbruklære,” (Aquaculture Studies) aims to serve the needs of an industry eager for up to date information as wells as for students researching fish welfare and sustainability within aquaculture.

It can also be utilized as a reference for individuals seeking specific information or exploring the sector more broadly.

Professor Turid Mørkøre, the editor of Havbrukslære.no, highlighted the dynamic nature of the aquaculture industry and the importance of current, engaging educational materials.

“The aquaculture industry is developing rapidly, where knowledge is a fresh commodity. Therefore, it is important to have up-to-date knowledge that is presented in an engaging way. Havbrukslære is not an ordinary book but a living educational work that we hope will motivate future problem solvers in the farming industry,” she said.
