Mowi Scotland takes delivery of new harvest vessel FSV Scotia.
Mowi Scotland has taken delivery of the FSV Scotia, a new on-site harvest vessel built by Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted (FMV) for Norwegian vessel-supply company FSV Group.
The Scotia is based on the Aurora Series design by Sirius Design & Integration and was delivered as new build no. 56 from FMV in 2024. It measures 50 metres in length and 12 metres in width, with a loading capacity of 500 cubic metres. The onboard processing plant is supplied by Baader.
The vessel is equipped with two main propulsion units (2 x CP52/AG450K/SA350-1-1000kW), as well as Brunvoll FU-series tunnel thrusters — a 500kW FU63LTA1550 unit at the bow and a 396kW FU45LTA1225 unit at the stern. The main propellers are driven by electric motors via a reduction gearbox, optimised through variable RPM to enhance efficiency across the power range.
The hull was constructed by Finomar in Poland before being towed to Norway for outfitting. The vessel has been assigned IMO number 1036563.
The FSV Scotia is the fourth vessel of its type delivered to FSV Group, which operates in Norway, Canada, the Faroe Islands, and Scotland. An official naming ceremony is expected in the coming months.
