The market is tightening a the salmon price rises for the third week in a row.
“They want it up 3-5 kroner (EUR 0.3-0.5),” said an importer. “It’s a little early. We will see how it develops. There is a lot of fish on the integrated ones. They decide what will happen,” he added.[factbox]

Increase
“Prices go up a bit again,” agreed another exporter.
He referred to the following farmgate prices for salmon to be delivered in the coming week:
- 2-3 kg NOK 53 (EUR 5.1)
- 3-4 kg NOK 58 (EUR 5.6)
- 4-5 kg NOK 60 (EUR 5.8)
- 5-6 kg NOK 62 (EUR 6.0)
- 6+ kg NOK 65 (EUR 6.5)
“It is a solid increase. Three to four kroner (EUR 0.4) on average. It seems like there is a little less fish towards the end of the week. We have bought a little at those prices,” he added.
Higher
Most of the industrial sources refer to average prices around EUR 5.8-5.9, which corresponds to about EUR 0.3-0.4 up from last Friday.
But some also see even higher prices.
“We have not sold anything yet, but a trader offered us exactly 61, 62 and 65 kroner (EUR 5.9, 6.1 and 6.4 for 3-6 kg – editor’s note) at our processing plant in the north (of Norway),” said a fish farmer.
