Norway-based aquaculture equipment maker, Steinsvik, has quietly hired 30-year industry veteran, Innes Weir, who for the past four years has worked at Cook Aquaculture Pacific.
Weir, the new Steinsvik UK general manager, did similar work with Cooke, and he knows Scotland from work as a marine site manager for Scottish Sea Farms.
Innes hit the ground running in late-February. He is tasked with ramping-up customer service.
“New management gives an opportunity for a Steinsvik reboot in the UK,” a statement said. The company is about to roll out more on-site training and new service scheduling to go with offering fish-farm operators technicians “seven days a week, 365 days a year”.
Steinsvik — steeped in oil, gas and aquaculture kit development — did sales of EUR 90 million in 2016 on the strength of its steel structures and camera equipment. Company turnover has risen steadily in recent years on new products like a feed barge for 600 tonnes of aquafeed.
