Haifa recalls smoked salmon and seabass in New York over Listeria risk.

Haifa Smoked Fish, based in Jamaica, New York, has recalled two products after testing revealed contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall covers “Cold Smoked Salmon” 8 oz., Lot #219, and “Cold Smoked Seabass” 8 oz., Lot #212. Both products were vacuum packaged and distributed nationwide to retail stores and distributors.

The contamination was detected through sampling by inspectors from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, with confirmation from the state’s Food Laboratory.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious infections in vulnerable groups, with pregnant women at risk of miscarriage or stillbirth.
