Norway’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries has appointed veteran journalist Siri Finnema Moen as head of communications for fisheries and ocean policy, effective September 1.
Finnema Moen will oversee communications relating to fisheries, seafood, aquaculture, the maritime sector and marine research, the ministry said in a statement.
She joins from public broadcaster NRK, where she currently works as a news editor, producer and reporter. The 46-year-old has previously held roles on programmes including Helgemorgen, Nyhetsmorgen and Dagsnytt 18, and has also worked on entertainment programmes for NRK and TV2.
The appointment comes as Norway’s fisheries and aquaculture sectors face heightened political scrutiny over issues including production growth, environmental regulation and seafood exports, making communications an increasingly important function within the ministry.
