FSV Group takes delivery of new stun and bleed vessel.
Norwegian aquaculture support company FSV Group has taken delivery of a new stun and bleed vessel, Scotia, to support Mowi’s salmon farming operations in Scotland.
The 49.97-metre vessel was built by Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted (FMV) to a design by Sirius Design and Integration, with hull construction undertaken at Finomar in Poland and final outfitting completed in Norway, according to Baird Maritime.
With a beam of 12 metres and a total cargo capacity of 500 cubic metres, Scotia is designed for fish farm operations in shallow waters with strong currents. The vessel is equipped with twin controllable-pitch shaftline propellers, reduction gears with electric motors, and bow and stern tunnel thrusters from Brunvoll to ensure enhanced manoeuvrability.
The onboard processing systems were supplied by Baader, with refrigeration equipment provided by PTG FrioNordica. Deck equipment includes cranes from HS.Marine.
Power is supplied by a Scania generator. Crew facilities include a mess, galley, day room, and wheelhouse fitted with NorSap seating.
The vessel is expected to begin immediate operations for Mowi in Scottish waters.
