Moen Marin has provided more than 60 hybrid propulsion vessels to the sector in the past ten years.

Nova Sea Aquaservice, a subsidiary of Nova Sea, one of the largest producers of farmed salmon in Northern Norway, has commissioned a state-of-the-art hybrid service vessel from Moen Marin.

The vessel, dubbed the NabCat 1512 HYB, is slated for delivery in October 2024, the companies announced in a joint press release on Tuesday.

The boat is able to accommodate six crew and boasts a 940 kWh battery pack, allowing for fully electric operation.

“We’re both proud and honoured to be chosen by Nova Sea Aquaservice. Collaborating closely with Hege Storheil, we’ve crafted the vessel’s specifications to ensure it’s a workspace one can take pride in,” commented Robin Johansen, Moen Marin sales manager for Northern Norway.

Over the past decade, Moen Marin has provided more than 270 work vessels to both the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, spanning Norway and international markets. More than 60 of these vessels have featured hybrid propulsion systems.

In August, Nova Sea launched the world’s first recycled salmon netpen.

The recycled cage comes from Nova Sea’s own old netpens, and has been developed together with technology supplier Akva Group.
