OptoScale unveils Bioscope 3.0 at Aqua Nor.
Trondheim, 20 August 2025 – Norwegian fish monitoring company OptoScale has launched a new version of its all-in-one cage-mounted camera system, Bioscope 3.0, at Aqua Nor.
The upgraded unit combines real-time monitoring of feeding, environmental conditions, fish growth, welfare, and lice into a single device, aiming to reduce the number of sensors and cables required in salmon cages.
New features include integrated environmental sensors for measuring oxygen, temperature, and other key parameters, as well as a feeding camera with pellet detection to help document feed uptake and waste.
“Customers get a single device that documents and adjusts in real time – with high precision,” said OptoScale CEO Sven Jørund Kolstø.
The launch follows OptoScale’s acquisition of Bioplan earlier this year. The planning and prediction tool has now been integrated into the Bioscope platform, allowing users to access both current and forward-looking insights for harvest timing and growth forecasts.
OptoScale, which operates in 10 countries and has collected over 4 billion measurements from 10,000 cages, said the new release was developed in collaboration with fish farmers and designed for immediate practical value.
