AKVA group has entered into a strategic partnership with DOKK Husøy for the supply of concrete feed barges to the aquaculture industry, according to a press release from the company.

Under the agreement, DOKK Husøy becomes a key collaborator for AKVA group within concrete barge solutions. The Norwegian supplier, based in Husøy in the municipality of Karmøy, Rogaland, has produced and delivered more than 40 concrete barges over the past six years.

AKVA group said the partnership supports its ambition to act as a full-service supplier in the barge market, complementing its traditional steel barge portfolio with concrete alternatives.

“Concrete represents a growing share of the total market, and this partnership better equips us to offer customers what they actually demand, regardless of material choice,” said Erlend Røed Gundersen, chief operating officer of AKVA group.

The partnership primarily covers the Nordic region and Scotland, enabling AKVA group to offer complete barge setups in both steel and concrete to meet different site conditions and operational requirements.

Arnt Ove Tangsgjerd, managing director of DOKK Husøy, said the collaboration would allow the company’s concrete solutions to reach a broader market through AKVA group’s established sales and delivery network.

AKVA group said the agreement marks an important step in expanding its barge offering and supporting its strategy of delivering complete and tailored solutions to aquaculture customers.
