Reports of farmed salmon caught in Kvinnherad, source of escape under assessment.
Norway’s Directorate of Fisheries said around 15 farmed salmon, each weighing 3–6 kg, were reported caught in the past day in Høylandssundet, east of Halsnøy in Kvinnherad, Vestland.
The agency said it cannot currently link the catches to any known escape and will contact operators in the area.
The directorate asked the public to report further catches or observations of farmed salmon, preferably with photos, to help assess scale and spread. It reminded fishers to comply with applicable regulations in the area.
