Mowi Opens Inchmore Visitor Experience to Showcase Aquaculture in Action
Last month Mowi officially opened its new Inchmore Visitor Experience, designed to provide local communities, stakeholders and visitors with an interactive introduction to modern aquaculture and the company’s operations in Scotland.
The facility, based at the Inchmore Hatchery, offers a walk-through of Mowi’s entire value chain via a mix of static displays, sensory installations, and interactive digital content. Short films, touchscreen exhibits and bold visuals provide insight into the salmon farming process, from hatchery to harvest, as well as the company’s environmental initiatives and career opportunities across its Scottish operations.
The visitor experience is aimed at a wide audience, including local schools, community organisations, customers and policymakers.
Matt Paget, Manager at Inchmore Hatchery, said the centre was created to address a knowledge gap. “Being a relatively new farming industry, not many people know what goes into raising healthy salmon,” he said. “Our new visitor experience will help bridge that gap and give people an insight into the entire process, from farm to fork.”
Paget added that Mowi is keen to show the “good work” being done to produce a sustainable food product. “We’re really proud of what we do at Mowi and we hope the Inchmore Visitor Experience will highlight our positive impact both locally and globally.”
Following a tour of the new space, guests at the official opening were treated to salmon served from Mowi’s branded Salmon Wagon food truck.
The visitor experience is now open for pre-arranged group visits. A video from the open day can be viewed via Mowi’s digital channels.
