ISA confirmed at Mowi site in Namsos.

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has confirmed infectious salmon anaemia (ILA) at Mowi Seawater Norway’s site 39537 Gyltneset in Namsos municipality, Trøndelag.

Mowi and Patogen AS first notified authorities on 16 September after PCR tests indicated possible ILA. The diagnosis was confirmed by the Norwegian Veterinary Institute on 2 October following further analysis.

The site has now been placed under restrictions, including a ban on fish movements without special permission. A restriction zone of around 10–20 km will be established around the location, consisting of both a protection zone and a surveillance zone, with limitations on aquaculture activity and traffic in the surrounding area.

The case has been published on BarentsWatch’s interactive map of disease outbreaks.
