New CEO for Inarctica as firm targets 60,000-tonne output.
Inarctica, Russia’s largest producer of farmed salmon and sea trout, has announced a leadership transition. Effective 1 July 2025, first deputy CEO Sergey Limarenko will take over as chief executive from Ilya Sosnov, who has led the company since 2015.
Sosnov will remain with Inarctica as an advisor, focusing on expanding the company’s domestic hatchery and feed operations. He retains a 17.5% stake in the business.
Limarenko, who joined the company in late 2024, previously held senior roles at United Wagon Company, TransContainer and Bank of Moscow.
During Sosnov’s tenure, Inarctica significantly expanded its operations and shareholder base, becoming one of Russia’s most prominent publicly listed agribusinesses. In response to sanctions and the withdrawal of Western suppliers following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the company sold its Norwegian hatchery assets in 2022 and shifted to full domestic smolt production. New facilities have since been established in Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, Arkhangelsk and Karelia.
Inarctica plans to double production to 60,000 tonnes in the medium term, with continued investment in artificial intelligence and operational expansion. In 2024, it produced 25,700 tonnes of salmon and trout, generating revenue of RUB 31.5 billion ($400 million). Major shareholders include Swinin & Partners (24.99%) and co-founder Maxim Vorobyev (22.96%).
