Sjømathuset recalls Fiskemannen salmon loins after Listeria detected.
Norwegian seafood company Sjømathuset has issued a recall of its Fiskemannen-branded salmon loins following the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in routine sampling.
The recall affects 300g consumer packs of salmon loin with a use-by date of 18 June 2025 and lot numbers 285584 and 285639. The products were produced between 10 and 11 June and distributed to NorgesGruppen’s national network of grocery stores, including Meny, Kiwi, Spar, Joker, Bunnpris, and CC Mat. Approximately 1,200 units are affected.
Sjømathuset, headquartered in Ålesund, supplies a range of processed and value-added seafood products under the Fiskemannen (“The Fish Man”) brand, one of Norway’s best-known consumer seafood lines. The brand is marketed as providing high-quality, ready-to-eat or easy-to-prepare fish products for domestic households.

According to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet), the presence of Listeria monocytogenes renders the product unsafe to eat raw. While the bacterium occurs naturally in the environment and is sometimes found in raw ingredients, it poses particular risk in chilled, ready-to-eat products due to its ability to grow at low temperatures and survive freezing.
For most consumers, low levels of Listeria do not cause harm, but vulnerable groups—including the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems—may develop listeriosis, a potentially serious illness, if contaminated products are consumed without prior cooking.
Mattilsynet has advised consumers in possession of the affected product not to eat it and to return it to the point of purchase or discard it.
