Scale AQ and Inverlussa have teamed up with the Scotland’s Young Aquaculture Society (YAS) in support of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)

YAS, Scale AQ, and Inverlussa have organized a community fun run/walk along the scenic Aviemore Circular route to coincide with the Aquaculture UK expo in Aviemore later this month.

Scheduled for 8:30 am on May 15th, the event will start from Grampian Road next to “the Vault,” with a planned route of approximately 6km.

Participants of all fitness levels are welcome to join, with Scale AQ and Inverlussa donating £5 each to the RNLI for every walker/runner, YAS announced on Tuesday.

Scale AQ is also providing visibility and space for YAS at their stand at the expo, allowing the Young Aquaculture Society to share their message and engage with attendees.

The Young Aquaculture Society is a collaborative free-to-join network which connects young people with an interest in the UK aquaculture industry.

YAS Vice President Robert Stewart highlighted the significance of partnerships with industry leaders as instrumental in advancing YAS’s mission to foster talent development within the UK aquaculture sector.

“A company like Scale AQ reaching out to YAS in our infancy to support us was both incredibly exciting and quite humbling. It’s a demonstration that the industry is willing to support new ideas and new people” he said.

Connor Foster, Seabased Special Advisor for Scale AQ, praised the success of similar initiatives in Norway and expressed enthusiasm for YAS’s launch in the UK, aiming to replicate the positive impact of youth-focused programs in the Norwegian aquaculture industry.

Aquaculture UK marks a significant milestone for YAS, with the organization’s launch event coinciding with the Salmon Scotland AGM. Despite their substantial online presence, boasting over 130 members and 1500 followers on LinkedIn, this will be YAS’s inaugural in-person event, signaling the beginning of their journey to facilitate both physical and digital networking opportunities for young professionals in the aquaculture field.
