Wiig appointed to lead software division at ScaleAQ.

ScaleAQ, a technology supplier to the global aquaculture industry, has appointed Thomas Fagerland Wiig as head of its software division. He will also continue in his role as Group Chief Digital Officer (CDO).

Wiig has been with the company since 2019 and takes over from Jon Arild Tørresdal, who has stepped down from the role and is leaving the company.

ScaleAQ develops equipment and digital solutions for fish farming operations, including sea-based systems, feeding technology, and biological monitoring tools. Its software division currently comprises 43 employees and five consultants based in Bergen and Florø, with additional offices in Vietnam, Canada, and Chile.

The group also employs 35 software developers working on equipment systems across its Seabased, Maskon, and Moen Marin business units.

CEO Audun S. Fjeldvær said Wiig’s combined leadership roles would help align the company’s digital strategy across business areas. “Thomas has shown a strong understanding of both technology and the aquaculture sector’s needs,” he said.

Wiig said the company’s digital growth strategy would continue to prioritise open data integration between ScaleAQ and third-party systems, as well as improved decision-support tools for production. “We’ve made long-term investments in data quality and integration that position us well for a more efficient and sustainable production model,” he said.
