Aquaculture equipment supplier Ace Aquatec is set to introduce its A-Biomass camera system to the Japanese market at the Japan International Seafood and Technology Expo in Tokyo.

Following the launch of the product in Europe last year, the company aims to expand its global presence with this underwater camera.

The camera utilizes machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver real-time, biomass measurement, according the company. Weighing just 8.5kg, the device is designed to be more efficient and easy to deploy.

Ace Aquatec’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Tara McGregor-Woodhams, along with Head of Sales Ben Perry and Technical Sales and Partnerships Manager Tom Cryans, will be present at the expo from August 21st to 23rd.

The team will be part of the Seafood from Scotland/United Kingdom pavilion, supported by several UK government departments and industry bodies.

In addition to their participation at the expo, the Ace Aquatec team will visit key Japanese aquaculture producers with partners from the British Embassy in Tokyo and Scottish Development International.

The company hopes to establish connections in the Japanese market and introduce its technology to a new audience.

“Our A-Biomass cameras are helping farmers optimize feed and growth rates while transforming how they monitor salmon stock,” said McGregor-Woodhams. “We are excited to introduce this device to Japan as part of our ongoing efforts to bring Scottish technology to the global aquaculture industry.”
