Norwegian smolt supplier BioFish has announced the appointment of Sondre Hagerup Johnsrud as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective October 1, 2023.

Johnsrud succeeds outgoing CEO Torbjørn Skulstad, who will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors.

The leadership change comes as BioFish prepares to complete its Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) facility at Ljones by the end of September 2023. Skulstad’s decision to step down followed recent sales agreements and the nearing completion of the Ljones facility.

Sondre Hagerup Johnsrud brings extensive industry experience to his new role, having held operational, strategic, and management positions at leading aquaculture firms such as Bjørøya and Midt-Norsk Havbruk. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Trondheim Økonomiske Høyskole.

BioFish, located in the Hardanger Fjord on the Norwegian west coast, produces large smolt for salmon farmers.
