Price expected to ease heading into week 14.
Norwegian salmon spot prices are expected to ease heading into week 14, according to industry analysts. One estimate puts prices at EUR 7.72 (USD 8.96) per kilo, while another indicates a range of EUR 7.99–8.07 (USD 9.27–9.37). This compares with an estimated EUR 7.72–7.90 (USD 8.96–9.17) for the current week and a reported week 12 spot price of EUR 8.26 (USD 9.59). Larger fish continue to trade at steep discounts to the standard 3–6 kg size category, weighing on the overall price level.
Export values rise despite flat volumes
Norwegian export volumes in week 12 reached 27,857 tonnes, up 1% year on year and higher than the 26,044 tonnes recorded in week 11. Export value in euro terms climbed 12.8% year on year, while the four-week rolling export value was up 2.6% year on year. Shipments to China and Hong Kong surged 54% year on year, though EU-bound volumes declined 7% year on year. Chilean D-trim (3–4 lb) prices for Miami were most recently quoted at USD 6.65 per pound.
Biology remains favourable, but algae risk is rising
Implied harvest weight continues to run approximately 13% above year-ago levels, pointing to strong biological conditions alongside harvesting of fewer individuals. Lice pressure remains low, with only six sites above the regulatory threshold in week 12. However, algae concentrations are increasing in production areas 1 and 2, raising the relative risk for certain farming operations in those regions.
