Tempia: appoints new managing director

Tempia has appointed Erik Mäkitaavola as managing director, replacing co-founder Mathias Ingebrigtsen, who will move into a newly created role as chief commercial officer.

Mäkitaavola joins the Norway-based aquaculture and fisheries refrigeration supplier from Lerøy Seafood Group, where he served as plant operations manager at the company’s seafood processing facility in Lofoten. He has also held management roles at Insula, REC Wafer Norway and REC Solar.

Tempia develops refrigerant and heating systems based on natural refrigerants including CO2 and ammonia, supplying RSW systems, cooling and freezing solutions, heat pumps and industrial ice machines to the aquaculture, fisheries and food industries.

The company reported 2025 revenues of NOK 91 million (€8.37 million), up 25% year on year and more than double 2023 revenues of NOK 45 million (€4.14 million).

Seafood-focused investment firm Bluefront Equity is Tempia’s largest shareholder.
