Trident Aqua Services has held the naming ceremony for its new wellboat Inter Alba in Ullapool, Scotland, marking the vessel’s entry into service with Mowi’s Scottish operations.
The battery-hybrid vessel is the first of two newbuilds being delivered to Trident from Sefine Shipyard. The company said the vessel is among the largest and most advanced wellboats currently operating in the market.
Designed by Salt Ship Design, Inter Alba has a cargo capacity of 6,500 cubic metres and has been developed with a focus on fish welfare, biosecurity, and gentle fish handling.
The onboard fish handling system was supplied by MMC First Process. The vessel is also equipped with a freshwater production system using reverse osmosis, capable of producing up to 15,000 cubic metres of freshwater within 24 hours.
The naming ceremony took place in Ullapool and brought together crew members, suppliers, customers and local representatives. The vessel’s godmother was Kerry Hadfield, spouse of Mowi Scotland COO Ben Hadfield.
Trident Aqua Services was formed in 2025 through the merger of FSV Group, Intership and Aquaship and operates a fleet of 63 vessels, with six additional vessels currently under construction.
