Trident Aqua Services appoints Arild Aasmyr as CEO following merger launch.

Trident Aqua Services has appointed Arild Aasmyr as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the formal launch of the company in May 2025 after the merger of Aquaship, Intership and FSV Group.

Aasmyr previously led FSV Group for seven years, during which time he oversaw a period of growth and operational development. He now takes over as CEO of Trident, which operates more than 60 aquaculture vessels across three continents, employing over 1,000 staff.

Trident is backed by American Industrial Partners and is now the world’s second-largest maritime service provider to the aquaculture sector, positioning itself as the industry’s first global provider of all aquaculture vessel types.

“I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to lead a company that brings together the industry’s top expertise with a fully integrated service model,” Aasmyr said. “We aim to elevate the aquaculture industry by being a reliable partner, an attractive employer, and a driving force for sustainable growth.”

He replaces Ole-Peter Brandal, who founded and led Intership and played a key role in the development of Trident. Brandal will continue to be involved in the company as a director and consultant.

“I hand over the reins with both pride and confidence,” Brandal said. “Over the past months, we’ve worked intensively to build relationships, share expertise, and establish a strong common foundation.”

AIP partner Alex Schukin praised Brandal’s “outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment,” adding: “We look forward to our continued partnership with both Ole-Peter and Arild in building a leading platform in this industry.”

Trident has stated its intention to set new standards in fish welfare, safety, and operational efficiency across the global aquaculture sector.
