Worker’s arm crushed in incident aboard feed boat

A serious workplace accident occurred on a ship carrying feed, operated by logistics company Egil Ulvan Rederi, near Austevoll, Norway just before midnight on Thursday last week.

Following the incident, emergency services airlifted the injured crew member.

Initially bound for Oslo’s National Hospital, the helicopter was rerouted mid-journey to Haukeland, arriving at 00:30.

Arild Hoff, the General Manager of Egil Ulvan Rederi, reported on Friday morning that they are maintaining contact with the injured crew member.

“There has been a serious crushing accident with damage to the arm. Our colleague will be operated on at Haukeland today,” Hoff wrote in an SMS to Norwegian media outlet Bergens Tidende.

According to the report, the entire crew on board are Norwegian citizens. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
