AQS has selected SHM Solutions as supplier of control systems, hydraulics and deck equipment for four new service vessels currently being built at Salthammer Båtbyggeri.

The vessels are of the Coastern 28 zH type and were designed by Tomra Engineering.

SHM said the contract is the largest project in the company’s history and includes delivery of cranes, winches, control systems and hydraulic systems for the vessels.

The four vessels are in addition to AQS Æge, delivered from the same yard in April, and a sister vessel currently under construction for delivery in 2026.

SHM Solutions CEO Yngve B. Myklebust said the project reflected AQS’s focus on standardisation and operational development across its fleet.

The companies said they have collaborated on the development of several new systems, including an automatic towing hook and the replacement of capstans with vertical tuggers intended to reduce operational risk for crews.

AQS CTO Kim Åkervik said the company selected SHM based on operational experience, functionality and safety considerations.

AQS, headquartered in Flatanger, operates a fleet of 17 service vessels and employs around 200 people. The company’s fleet includes dive boats, catamarans and monohulls up to 49 metres in length.

SHM Solutions, headquartered in Molde, employs 40 people and supplies deck equipment and marine systems to the aquaculture and maritime industries.
