Bakkafrost: Q2 harvest hits 29,900 tonnes

Bakkafrost harvested 29,900 tonnes across the Faroe Islands and Scotland in the second quarter of 2026, according to a trading update filed with Oslo Børs.

The Faroe Islands accounted for 26,700 tonnes, rising through the quarter from 7,700 tonnes in April to 10,300 tonnes in June. Average harvest weight there fell from 5.9 kg to 5.2 kg over the same period.

Scotland harvested 3,200 tonnes, with volumes dropping from 1,900 tonnes in April to 800 tonnes in June. Average weight in Scotland declined to 4.4 kg by June.

Year-to-date harvest reached 51,900 tonnes in the Faroe Islands and 9,400 tonnes in Scotland.

Bakkafrost booked DKK 32 million (about $5 million) in exceptional mortality costs in Scotland’s farming operations, based on preliminary figures. The Faroe Islands recorded no such costs.

Freshwater operations in both regions reported zero exceptional mortality costs.

The company released 5.6 million smolt in the Faroe Islands and 3.9 million in Scotland during the quarter. Year-to-date releases stand at 9.5 million and 4.9 million respectively.

In the fishmeal, oil and feed segment, Bakkafrost sourced 109,700 tonnes of marine raw material and sold 37,400 tonnes of feed in Q2. It reported no fishmeal or fish oil sales during the quarter.

Bakkafrost said its Faroe Islands biomass overview will now be updated monthly on its website.
