Cflow has opened a subsidiary in Iceland, establishing a permanent local presence to serve the country’s growing land-based aquaculture sector.
The Norwegian process technology company already supplies equipment to Salmon Garden, the RAS project operated by Samherji Fiskeldi, one of Iceland’s most ambitious land-based salmon developments. That contract provided the commercial foundation for the new entity, the company said.
“Our collaboration with Samherji Fiskeldi and the delivery to Salmon Garden has been a fundamental entry point into the Icelandic market,” said Thomas Håberg, Sales Director at Cflow. “This confirms that our solutions meet the requirements of some of the most experienced operators in the sector.”
CEO Stig Bjørkedal cited Iceland’s technological maturity and operator standards as drivers of the decision. “The country has a progressive aquaculture industry and strong players with high expectations on quality and execution. This aligns with Cflow’s values,” he said.
A local subsidiary allows Cflow to work closer to clients throughout the full project lifecycle — from planning through delivery. Håberg described Icelandic operators as fast-moving and quality-focused. “The transition from decision to action is quick, and expectations are clear at every stage,” he said.
Cflow will also participate as a partner at the Icelandic Aquaculture and Ocean Forum (IAOF) later this spring.
The Iceland move is part of Cflow’s broader international expansion strategy, which also includes activity in the Chilean RAS sector. Iceland’s land-based pipeline — driven by geothermal energy access and regulatory stability — continues to attract equipment suppliers ahead of several planned facility openings.
