Morten Lorentsen has taken over as chair of Gigante Havbruk, according to updated filings in the Norwegian Register of Business Enterprises.

The change sees founder Kjell Lorentsen step down as chair while remaining on the board alongside Hilde Lorentsen.

The updated board composition lists Morten Lorentsen as chair, with Hilde Mangset Lorentsen and Kjell Arild Lorentsen serving as board members.

The appointment follows a broader leadership transition within the Lorentsen-controlled aquaculture group. Earlier this year, Kristian Lorentsen succeeded Kjell Lorentsen as chief executive of land-based salmon farming company Gigante Salmon. Kristian Lorentsen is no longer listed as a board member of Gigante Havbruk.

Founded by Kjell Lorentsen in 1988, Gigante Havbruk is the parent company of the Gigante group. The company owns a 61% stake in the listed land-based salmon producer Gigante Salmon and a 20% stake in Salten Aqua Group, which includes broodstock, smolt production, processing and sales operations.

The Lorentsen family owns 80% of Gigante Havbruk, with the remaining 20% held by the Storholm family.
