Gigante Salmon said chief executive Kjell Lorentsen will step down from the role, with Kristian Lorentsen appointed as his successor.

The company said Kjell Lorentsen’s departure will take effect from 1 May 2026.

Lorentsen, 68, returned as CEO in 2024 and said at the time he intended to lead the company through the construction project at Lille Indre Rosøy. He said the facility has now received its completion certificate and that the time had come to hand over leadership.

The board thanked him for what it described as an extraordinary contribution to the development of Gigante Salmon.

Kjell Lorentsen has also informed the company’s nomination committee that he is available as a candidate for the board at this year’s annual general meeting.

Kristian Lorentsen has been involved in the company since its start-up and has held roles including CFO and operational positions at site level. He has served on the board since 2024.

He will take over as CEO of both Gigante Salmon and operating company Gigante Salmon Rødøy from 1 May.

As Kristian Lorentsen is currently on parental leave, Kjell Lorentsen will continue as acting managing director until 31 July 2026.

In connection with the appointment, Kristian Lorentsen will step down from the board and leave his existing roles within the Gigante Havbruk ownership structure.

Gigante Salmon is developing a land-based salmon farming facility at Lille Indre Rosøy in Rødøy municipality using a flow-through aquaculture system.
