Norway’s Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Marianne Sivertsen Næss, will officially open the Havexpo trade fair on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.
The opening is scheduled between 11:00 and 13:00. Næss will also host the first consultation meeting on the government’s new maritime strategy during the event.
Havexpo, held on Sotra outside Bergen, is an international exhibition focused on fisheries and aquaculture, combining industry stands with a conference programme. The event forms part of a broader calendar of Norwegian seafood and maritime trade fairs, alongside Aqua Nor in Trondheim, and serves as a regional meeting point for suppliers, vessel owners and aquaculture companies.
The consultation meeting is intended to gather input from industry stakeholders as the government develops its maritime policy framework. Bergen remains a central hub for Norway’s shipping industry, with a concentration of companies across multiple maritime segments, providing a natural venue for such discussions.
The ministry said the event will be used to engage directly with industry participants and other stakeholders on policy priorities affecting the seafood and maritime sectors.
